Benefits

High nutritional value and rich in bioactive compounds such as seaweed sulfated polysaccharides [SSPs]
Improves animal’s gut health by increasing beneficial microorganisms and resulting to balanced microflora and better digestion
Provides prebiotic ingredient in animal feed
Mineral contents are chelated, making them easily absorbed and resulting in livestock growth improvement, better egg quality for layers and improved bone health for animals.
Serves as alternative to Antibiotic Growth Promoters (AGPs) that inhibit pathogenic bacterial growth in animals without leaving residue in meat, microbial resistance and withdrawal period.
Its (Ulva) biomass is characterized by high concentration of nutrients: nitrogen, phosphorus, proteins and amino acids that has very good potential as feed supplement as well as biomass for bio-energy and protein feed production.

Fish meal is a very important but expensive component of feeds. Studies have shown that biomass of Ulva can substitute for 20% of the fish meal in animal feeds thus significantly reducing the cost of production translating this to higher profit.
